Axle Plate Width

by Shaun Mayfield

On your website it indicates that the bobber frame fits a 200mm tire with 10.5" clearance between plates, however the plans that I downloaded were 1" wider. Which one is wrong, the description or the drawing?

It Is Correct
by: Custom Choppers Guide

Hello,

Thanks for the question. Sorry about the confusion, but the drawing you downloaded is correct. A 200 series frame that is designed for a 8" wide tire will generally have extra space between the axle plates so that you can fit in the various components that need to be there including the chain sprocket, brake disk and other items based on the design of your drive train.

Also please note that on our webpage, we list various dimensions such as the distance between internal tubes which is different from the distance between the axle plates. Internal frame width of 10.5" is listed on the page while additional notes show 11.5" between axle plates. Again we apologize for the confusion and hope you are satisfied with the plans. Again the plans you received with the 11.5" between the axle plates is correct.

Sincerely,
