Hardtail Bike Build

by Harold Snyder
(Oregon)

the base the back bone the frame the fit

I did a hard tail kit a year and a half a go and had a blast. I road my bike all over hell and back. Was so much fun I thought I would do it again. BUT after seeing the hard tail kit for the money I thought I will just build it myself.

I started with an old hard tail frame from a friend was going to re hardtail it. Cut it off. Then found all kinds of cracks and stuff in the front half of the frame, cut it off. Now just a nick. I started inspecting it and it was pretty much fubar. I couldn't throw it away, it had the magic numbers on it. Whatever. So with only a neck for a bike I decided to build a frame jig and do a complete frame. The neck went to the home of my Favorite machines and came back new needing number reinstalled. And that's where it all began. A few hundred more hours and a few more dollars and it should be there.
