Harley Davidson Oil Recommendation

by Don
(New Jersey)

The Harley Davidson dealer that serviced my 2011 Heritage Softail recommended that I use synthetic motor oil and gear oil (for trans) in the bike. Since my 2001 chopper has a HD motor in it I'm thinking of switching to the synthetics in that as well. As far as my understanding was with my HD dealer, the synthetic oils offer better protection. And since the 2011 Heritage has a 7 year warranty I have to believe their recommending this with there own best interests in mind.
