(ha, ha) in regards to my CB 750 Project, here I am back with my build: Rear wheel is a 15" rim, original drum brake with a 170 tire, already got a new 16" x 5.5 wheel since I have cleared the way for a 180 tire, which is as far as I want to go, the from wheel is a 21" rim with a mini-drum brake no real stopping power here, yet I will install a rear caliper for a rear disc brake, the "Z" bar you see on the previous picture is the rear brake rod that goes to the rear drum brake, that’s going to go with the new brake setup.

Right now the bike is all down in pieces, I just got a old frame with paper work (Just discover mine was untitled!) so I will have to change the steering neck so I can get this baby legally to the streets, 1st problem is to get my jig as accurate as possible, no easy task since I’m not a professional builder, yet I’m trying to plan and to take one step at the time since all my crew is just me and my wife which thank to God is just as passionate with bikes as I am!

This photo shows an ultima inverted front end, 2 inch over, frame has a 45 rake which already showed to be a bit dangerous for our city (traffic is hellish almost 24/7) so I know I’m getting some boos here but I will do a 40 degree rake with the new neck, so I can have a better handing on this beast.

The rear pipes came with the bike, unfortunately I will have to change them since they get hot as hell and I ride with my wife all the time, I got a 4 x 4 mac NOS, I plan to weld straight ends to them so I will do long pipes to the rear wheel end length for an aggressive look.

I’m also working on a oil tank, will do 1/2" lines so the motor get the oil it deserves, also need to work on new head gaskets so you know these babies are reliable enough but they need some attention from time to time...

I will upload new photos as work progress... peace to all. It is refreshing to know I’m not alone! (At least in the< world... everybody here is bent towards instant gratification meaning big bucks to get a decent ride).

Funny story.
by: Anonymous

I married my wife in 1973.
A few months later I purchased a very slightly used Honda CB500.
I drove it until 1976.
I sold it for about $100.00 profit and the miles I used it.
Not too bad.
Then in 1985 I was driving down a back road just So. of Houston and saw a Honda DB500 with a for sale sign.
I just had to stop as it looked just like mine.
After a couple of minutes I was stunned to find it was the same bike I'd sold in 1976.
Well that did it. I bought it for $350.00.
I rode it around just for fun for a couple of years.
Then parked it in the garage.
I didn't take care of it properly but I did go and kick it through once or twice a month.
Reciently I moved about 75 miles North of there and brought it with me.
I found the carb pistons are stuck.
So I really wanted to run it and got a small propane tank and a set of jumper cables.
After draining the oil and replacing it I started cranking and had the propane hose in the air filter box. Slowly opening up the propane it soon "15 seconds or so" was setting there idling at around 1200 RPM. That's where the carbs are stuck.
I let it run for about 20 minutes and removed the oil and the filter to examine for metals in the filter. It is clean.
I like a lot of you have intentions of making it into a chopper.
I have had excellent results with the Mega Spark fuel injection system on several builds and I'm thinking I'll build another for the CB500.
Many people are getting very good results with these little home built computers.
Anyway. When I start I'll post photo's of the beginning and step by step.
Good luck to all.

Horatio,

You bike is much cooler than any Harley could ever be! Remember also your engine will blow the wheels off a Harley. I am saving your webpage. Keep up the good work man!

I'm soon to start building a 1977 cb750 but from scratch. I still have to chop it up but you have given me hope and I wish you the best with the rest of your build. And if there are any pointers please feel free to email me at handyindeed@yahoo.com
