Tig Welding A Chopper Frame

by George Olic
(Slovakia)

Hello,

I have one technical question about TIG welding chopper frame, can I weld a frame with mild steel DOM tubes together with 309L filler rod or ER70S-2 is better? What you recommend? Many Thanks for your answer.

Regards, George Olic.

ANSWER: I recommend the ER70S-2. The 309L really is just for stainless. The ER70S-2 has greater carbon content and will work fine for mild and 4130.
