gs550 bobber project

My first attempt at bike building. A 1979 gs550 Bobber.

It's been a right ball ache to make do with minimum tools and equipment, and finding other parts and materials on a tight budget.

But as you can see its starting to look like a real bike. There's just some electrics and brake issues left to do plus some minor fabrication.

Wish me luck!

1955 Indian For $25
by: partner

Whoa Casey, look here young man, you are starting the same way some of "ole" young at heart Greybeards did, back in the day. I remember my very 1st MC 1941 Indian Scout (45" ) I got for $25.00 back in 1955 - 1956. They had knocked a 2" hole in the bottom of the tranny & didn't have the money to fix-it. So me being a 15 year old kid, they sold it to me. I know they thought they had just "took-me" for the money. Joke was on them. My Dad was a close friend of the defunct Indian dealership in a little town 20 miles away. Dad made a phone call, asked me if I could pay him back (Of course, Dad) and the next day me and the Indian rode to see the ones that sold it to me! HA, HA, HA! You can not believe the look on their faces when I (on my Indian) rode up. Sorry, but I sometimes like to remember a simpler, more peaceful time. Just want to say, Be Proud Casey, that is your bike and you are doing excellent, don't give-up, and just think,40-50 years from now you will remember "Her" with good memories of trial and error, but a feeling of Pride, and the passion of building something you loved, rode, and started your life of "Choppers"! Here's to the 1st place Show bike I am sure you will build someday. Good-Luck,Son Jerry "partner" Rasmussen 71 years young and riding the Highways for 50+ years, "RIDE FAST-RIDE FREE" MY BROTHERS A Bro & Chopper Lover for Life, Partner.
