Aluminum chopper frame?

by James

I'd like to build an aluminum chopper frame. I'm using an aluminum neck/triple set up from a sport bike that I've torn down and want to make a tubular "traditional" style chopper frame for it. What is the recommended thickness and type of aluminum I should source?

Thank you

Sounds like a cool build. I would do some research on the interweb and call the factory even, ask to speak to someone in engineering. It'll cost you some phone time. If you luck out, you get directed to one of the gear-heads there, if they all are, one will take your call :)
My kid sisters ex was a Yamaha sponsored racer for a short time, 2 seasons I recall, and was on the ins with some factory techs in the race support program. He even bought a 250 cc factory roadracer right from japan and swapped on street bodywork for my sis. FAST bike!
Yeah, if you can't find the metal specs online, even if you can, call the factory, you might get a pleasant surprise.
